The first teaser trailer of Lords of Chaos, a film that sheds light on the true history of Norwegian black metal and on Mayhem, one of the genre's most iconic bands.
Directed by Jonas Åkerlund, Lords of Chaos will debut in U.S. theaters on February 8, 2019 while it will be available for video on demand starting February 22.
Defined as "bloody.", Lords of Chaos is not a purely horror film but spans multiple genres.
Mayhem is a Norwegian black metal band founded in 1984 by guitarist Euronymous. The band is also known for its blasphemous performances but also for incidents of suicide/murder and crimes against Christian sites related to the Inner Circle, an anti-Christian association founded by Euronymous himself. The latter also was killed in 1993 by bassist Varg Vikernes, currently active in the black metal/dark ambient music project Burzum.
In the cast of Lords of Chaos: Rory Culkin (Scream 4) is Euronymous, Emory Cohen (The Place Beyond the Pines) is Varg, Anthony De La Torre (Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales) is Hellhammer, Sky Ferreira (The Green Inferno) is Ann-Marit, Jack Kilmer (Val Kilmer's son) is Per Yngve "Dead" Ohlin while Valter Skarsgard (Stellan Skarsgard's son) plays Faust.
The screenplay is by Dennis Magnusson and Jonas Åkerlund.
