After the teaser A few days ago, we reported on the official trailer for Lords of Chaos (UK, Svezia - 2018), il film che fa luce sulla vera storia del black metal norvegese e sui Mayhem, una delle band più rappresentative del genere. Diretto da Jonas Åkerlund, Lords of Chaos will debut in US theaters on February 8, 2019, and will arrive on VOD platforms on February 22.
L'anteprima italiana di Lords of Chaos invece è fissata al 26 gennaio e al 2 febbraio presso il Cinema Massimo di Torino, nella sezione lungometraggi del "Seeyousound International Music Film Festival".
In the cast of Lords of Chaos: Rory Culkin ("Scream 4") è Euronymous, Emory Cohen ("The Place Beyond the Pines") è Varg, Anthony De La Torre è Hellhammer, Sky Ferreira ("The Green Inferno") è Ann-Marit, Jack Kilmer (il figlio di Val Kilmer) è Per Yngve “Dead” Ohlin mentre Valter Skarsgard (il figlio di Stellan Skarsgard) interpreta Faust.
The screenplay was written by Dennis Magnusson and Jonas Åkerlund.
Il film è basato sul libro "Lords of Chaos: The Bloody History of Satanic Metal" scritto da Michael Moynihan e Didrik Søderlind nel 1998 e pubblicato in Italia nel 2010.
In "Lords of Chaos" i due autori tentano di spiegare la nascita e la diffusione del metal satanico e, in particolare, del black metal, non tralasciando i crimini compiuti ad Oslo negli anni '90 da alcuni componenti delle band Mayhem e Burzum.
Mayhem is a Norwegian black metal band founded in 1984 by guitarist Euronymous. The band is known for its blasphemous and violent performances, but also for incidents of suicide/murder and crimes against Christian sites linked to the Inner Circle, an anti-Christian association founded by Euronymous himself. Euronymous was killed in 1993 by his band's bassist, Varg Vikernes, who is currently active in the black metal/dark ambient music project Burzum.
