In a Twitter post, Zac Efron announced the end of filming for L'Incendiaria, the horror film written by Scott Teems (Halloween Kills) and directed by Keith Thomas (The Vigil).
The film is the new adaptation of The incendiary (Firestarter), a science fiction horror novel written by Stephen King in 1980 and from which Mark M. Lester was inspired for his Uncontrollable paranormal phenomena (1984).
In this new project, Ryan Kiera Armstrong (It – Chapter Two) plays Charlie, a role that was played by Drew Barrymore (E.T.) in the 1984 film. In addition to the young actress, the cast also includes Zac Efron (Ted Bundy – Criminal Charm) and Michael Greyeyes (Fear The Walking Dead, Blood Quantum).
L'Incendiaria is produced by Universal, Weed Road Pictures and Blumhouse while Martha De Laurentiis, already involved in the first 1984 adaptation, appears on the crew as executive producer.
The plot of Stephen King's literary work: Charlie is a child with pyrokinetic abilities and owes her powers to her parents who, along with other volunteers, took part in a government experiment. Andrew, the father, has acquired the power to make people act according to his will and to influence their perceptions but Charlie's powers, unlike those of the parent, have unimaginable destructive effects.
The two are controlled by the Bottega, the federal organization behind the experiments that wants to study Charlie. Their interest in the girl forces Andrew and Charlie to flee, but the two are captured by John Rainbird.
In order to reunite with her father, Charlie will learn to master her power under the guidance of scientists, but the young girl will not be easy to handle...
