Tra le novità home video di dicembre di Eagle Pictures c'è anche The Vigil (USA - 2019), the horror film that was released in Italian theaters last September 2020 under the title The Vigil: it won't let you go.
From Dec. 30, The Vigil will be available in DVD format and also in a combo edition with two discs (DVD+Blu-ray) and a collector's card.
Critically acclaimed at its first presentation at the Toronto Film Festival, the film is produced by Blumhouse and features Keith Thomas, here making his first feature film, in the directing booth.
The Vigil is a horror film that sheds light on the Shomer, a term in Jewish culture for the janitor, the one who watches over the deceased until burial to protect his or her soul from evil spirits and help it in its passage to the Afterlife.
Plot: il fragile Yakov (Dave Davis), un ex Hassid, viene assunto dal rabbino Reb Shulem (Menashe Lustig) come shomer per vegliare la salma di Litvak, un sopravvissuto all’Olocausto, nonché membro della comunità religiosa abbandonata di recente proprio dal ragazzo. Accettato il lavoro perché a corto di soldi, Yakov raggiunge la casa fatiscente del defunto ma, una volta sul posto, il giovane shomer si accorgerà che non si tratterà della solita veglia funebre...
In the cast of The Vigil there are Dave Davis (The Walking Dead, Logan - The Wolverine), Adam Margules, Menashe Lustig, Malky Goldman, Lynn Cohen and Fred Melamed.
The script is by Keith Thomas himself.
