In anticipation of the first trailer, Universal and Blumhouse have released, online, three black-and-white posters of The Exorcist: Believer, the first film in the trilogy sequel to the The Exorcist (1973), a film based on William Peter Blatty's novel of the same name.
Written by Peter Sattler and Scott Teems, The Exorcist: Believer is the new horror film by David Gordon Green, author of the recent saga Halloween dedicated to Michal Myers (Halloween, Halloween Kills, and Halloween Ends) and will be distributed in Italy under the title The Exorcist: The Believer.
The cast of the film, coming to U.S. theaters on Oct. 13, 2023, includes Raphael Sbarge (The Alien 2, Independence Day, Pearl Harbor), Olivia Marcum, Lidya Jewett (Nightbooks - Tales of Fear), Leslie Odom Jr., Ann Dowd (Hereditary) and Ellen Burstyn (the latter again as Regan's mother, a character she previously played in William Friedkin's film).
The story of The Exorcist: Believer sheds light on two little girls possessed by an evil entity. Desperate for help, the father of one of the two (Leslie Odom Jr.), will ask for help from Mrs. Chris MacNeill (Ellen Burstyn), whose daughter Regan was possessed by Pazuzu many years earlier.
