Olivia Marcum, the young protagonist of Matilda the Musical (2019), joined the cast of The Exorcist, the new horror film by David Gordon Green, author of the trilogy devoted to Michal Myers (Halloween, Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends).

Olivia Marcum will join Lidya Jewett (Nightbooks - Tales of Fear), Leslie Odom Jr., Ann Dowd and also Ellen Burstyn, here again as Regan's mother, a character she previously played in William Friedkin's film.
The screenplay, on the other hand, is by Peter Sattler and Scott Teems.

The story features Regan (Linda Blair), a 12-year-old girl who begins to show signs of imbalance after playing with a ouija board and unintentionally summoning the demon Pazuzu. Initially her mother will subject her to several medical, including psychiatric, examinations but without noticing any improvement in her daughter. Some disturbing and abnormal behaviors of Regan will then lead the woman to turn to Father Karras.
