The Exorcist: David Gordon Green announces imminent start of filming

With Halloween Ends, in Italian theaters from tomorrow, Oct. 13, concludes the trilogy of David Gordon Green, who is already ready to devote himself to another project involving another staple of horror cinema: The Exorcist (1973) by William Friedkin.
During the presentation of Halloween Ends,

On the subject of his reboot of The Exorcist, David Gordon Green told Variety, "We start in a couple of weeks. We're ready to roll up our sleeves and dive into the next big franchise. We have an amazing cast coming together and scripts that we're all excited about."

According to Universal's unveiling, the new trilogy of the The Exorcist is expected to debut its first chapter on Oct. 13, 2023, with 90-year-old actress Ellen Burstyn rediscovering her then role (Chris MacNeil, Regan's mother) in the new project, some of whose scenes have already been filmed the last June.

Based on the novel of the same name by William Peter Blatty, The Exorcist (1973) by William Friedkin was well received by critics gaining much popularity and becoming, in time, a landmark of modern cinema.
De The Exorcist two sequels (The Exorcist II - The Heretic, The Exorcist III), two prequels/spinoffs (The Exorcist - Genesis, Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist) and a TV series (The Exorcist) that ran for two seasons were made.
The story features Regan (Linda Blair), a 12-year-old girl who begins to show signs of imbalance after playing with a ouija board and unintentionally summoning the demon Pazuzu. Initially her mother will subject her to several medical, including psychiatric, examinations but without noticing any improvement in her daughter. Some disturbing and abnormal behaviors of Regan will then lead the woman to turn to Father Karras.
