Apparently filming is already underway for the first chapter of the sequel trilogy to the The Exorcist, the masterpiece about demonic possession directed by William Friedkin in 1973.
According to reports by BloodyDisgusting, it appears that the news was leaked during an interview done last February with Ellen Burstyn, in which the actress revealed that she had already shot her scenes.
Nine-year-old Ellen Burstyn once again plays Chris MacNeil, Regan's mother, in this new horror project by Blumhouse/Universal and directed by David Gordon Green.
The director is best known for directing the sequel trilogy to Halloween (1978) and which was initiated with Halloween in 2018. The second chapter, Halloween Kills, debuted in Italian theaters in October, while Halloween Ends Is currently in the process of filming.
The first chapter of the The Exorcist will arrive in theaters on October 13, 2023 while there are no dates yet for the other two films.
Jason Blum, David Robinson and James Robinson are among the project's producers.
