harechaun-locandinaDan O'Grady (Shay Duffin) returns from his mother's funeral in Ireland happy and rich: he has stolen gold from the Leprechaun, a leprechaun who hides great treasures at the end of a rainbow.
But the little demon is a bit angry: it follows him home, kills Dan's wife and wants his gold back.
However, it is locked in a crate and placed in the basement.
Several years later a girl (Jennifer Aniston) arrives at this house bought by her father to spend her vacation.
During restoration work, the Leprechaun (Warwick Davis) is released and someone steals his coins...

Among the serial killer of horror cinema, Leprechaun has a somewhat anomalous position.
He is not as famous as Jason or Freddy, but he is nearly invincible. Only a four-leaf clover can weaken him, but how to find him is somewhat complicated.
He also has unlimited powers: he changes the voice by "rubbing it out" to his victims, is very strong, and appears and disappears easily.
He has a style all his own: he speaks in rhyme,he rides a tricycle,he is stingy like few others.
Warwick Davis is perfect as the leprechaun, also supported by good makeup.
But it is precisely the "perfection" of such a villain that detracts from the value of the rest of the film: the side characters are uninteresting.
A modicum of sympathy is brought by the somewhat retarded fat man and his friend, but all the comprimarios are macchiatos.
There is no question that the most fun and gore moments are when the Leprechaun is in action.

Costing 900,000 dolars, it grossed almost ten times as much and spawned several sequels, often for the home video market.
The very young Jennifer Aniston is notable only for physical beauty.
