leprechaun-4A group of crude marines led by Sergeant Hooker (Tim Colveri) raids a planet to destroy those who have produced damage to mining operations.
On that planet is the Leprechaun (Warwick Davis) who wants to marry the beautiful Princess Zarina (Rebekah Carlton), although the woman is not at all convinced.
The military men try to eliminate the sprite and think they have succeeded. They return to their spaceship but the trouble has just begun.

Brian Trenchard-Smith is the director who better than any of his colleagues who have directed sequels in the series understood that the best way to give interest to a character as nearly unbeatable as the Leprechaun is to enhance the comic, farcical, demented side of the whole affair.
In fact, this film, as well as the previous one, wants to make people laugh. And it succeeds.
Sure, the film has a reputation as the worst in the series, but Trenchard-Smith is a director out of time, in the sense that it is very 1980s like whimsy and whimsy.
Leprechaun 4 is a crazy and in its own way brilliant film, moving the sprite into very cheap space scenarios and abounding, as much as possible, with special effects and gore scenes.

The film is released one year before Starship Troopers and presents, without any political-social aftertaste, a military band that is very dedicated to gogliardia and entertainment.
There is the rather wacky character of Dr. Mittenhand (Guy Siner) a sort of Mussolini (!) with a German accent (at least in the Italian dubbing) who is as clever as he is ridiculous.
Then there is a fairly accomplished scorpion-spider-human mutant hybrid. Then there is the Leprechaun that becomes a giant....
There is a lot, too much and too fast. But all just to entertain.
A good sci-fi demented horror. Not a pure horror, not a sci-fi adventure opus. A film primarily for laughs, and for that it must be taken.
In this respect, the best in the series.
The main character does not speak in rhyme, but this is not a big problem.
