It is currently in pre-production Leatherface, the prequel to Don't open that door by Tobe Hooper. A new chapter is thus added to the full-bodied franchise that with this one groups as many as eight titles. As a reminder, the penultimate film that references Hooper's film is the reboot Don't Open That Door 3D (Texas Chainsaw 3D) by John Luessenhop, which landed in theaters in 2013.
To direct Leatherface are French directors Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo, who have such notable titles behind them as À l'intérieur, Livide, Aux yeux des vivants and the "X is for Xylophone" segment in The ABCs of Death 2. The film's screenplay, on the other hand, is by Seth M. Sherwood, while Christa Campbell and Lati Grobman handled production.
The story of Leatherface focuses on the iconic character during his teenage years, tracing the tortuous path that led him to become the fearsome "leatherface."
Four violent youths kidnap a nurse and escape from the psychiatric hospital where they are hospitalized. A dangerous policeman, thirsting for revenge, manages to twist the mind of one of the youths, turning him into a monster with no feelings.
