The Fair of Illusions - Nightmare Alley is the film adaptation of William Lindsay Gresham's novel of the same name, a 1946 literary work already transposed for film by Edmund Goulding with The Fair of Illusions (1947) e debutterà nelle sale italiane il 27 gennaio 2022.
The film brings together a stellar cast that includes Bradley Cooper (Next Stop: Hell), Willem Dafoe (The Lighthouse), Cate Blanchett (Lord of the Rings), Toni Collette (Hereditary - The Roots of Evil), David Strathairn (The Assassin's Web), Rooney Mara (Nightmare - 2010), Michael Shannon (Bug - Paranoia is Contagious), Richard Jenkins (Wolf - The Beast is Out), Ron Perlman (Hellboy) and Mark Povinelli.
The screenplay, on the other hand, is by Guillermo Del Toro and Kim Morgan.
Protagonista de The Fair of Illusions - Nightmare Alley è Bradley Cooper, qui nel ruolo di Stanton Carlisle, un carismatico e ambizioso giostraio dalle grandi doti manipolatorie che incontra la chiaroveggente Zeena (Toni Collette) e il suo ex marito, il mentalista Pete (David Strathairn), in un luna park itinerante.
Thanks to his new acquaintances, the man will try to swindle the New York elite of the 1940s. In fact, with the help of his faithful friend Molly (Rooney Mara) and a mysterious psychiatrist (Cate Blanchett), Stanton will set up a scam against a dangerous tycoon (Richard Jenkins).
