The first chapter, written and directed by Tsurisaki (known as "the photographer of death") is the well-known Orozco - The Embalmer, followed by Junk Films and The Wasteland.
Orozco - The Embalmer (2001) is a shocking documentary on embalming that takes a very cold and taboo-free look at the conservative treatment of human bodies conducted by Colombian embalmer Froilan Orozco in Bogotá, one of Colombia's poorest and most infamous cities.
Junk Films (2007) is a collection of short films that highlights the fragility of human life. Here Kiyotaka Tsurisaki addresses the theme of departure by filming fatal accidents, participating in the exhumation of corpses, capturing images of outdoor cremations in India or those of the discovery of human carcasses in landfills.
The Wasteland (2014) is the final chapter in the trilogy and concludes the investigation of deaths conducted and initiated by Kiyotaka Tsurisaki with Orozco - The Embalmer. The shockumentary blends the macabre footage of Kiyotaka Tsurisaki with the bleak and oppressive music of the Japanese doom metal band Corrupted (album "El mundo frio").
