Killroy was here is the title of the horror comedy featuring Kevin Smith, the director of Red State and Tusk. A trailer is already available of the film, which was presented at the San Diego Comic Con.
Compared by the director himself to Creepshow and to V/H/S, Killroy was here è un horror antologico old style che prende spunto da "Kilroy Was Here" ("Kilroy è stato qui"), un'espressione della cultura di massa statunitense spesso rappresentata sotto forma di graffito.
The film consists of several, short, episodes that share the same title character, Killroy.
"Killroy è un po' come un supereroe che protegge i bambini. Se qualcuno fa loro del male, Killroy appare. E ha un aspetto buffo: pelato e con un naso prominente, proprio come l'omino del meme" ha dichiarato Kevin Smith su IndieWire.
Il regista ha scelto il truccatore Bob Kurtzman per la creazione di un personaggio che ricordasse il graffito originale e che fosse anche adatto per un film horror. "Makeup artist Robert Kurtzman has come up with something that is scary but also funny at the same time" ha aggiunto Smith.
Killroy was here dovrebbe uscire nei primi mesi del 2021. Il cast è composto da Ryan O'Nan, Azita Ghanizada, Chris Jericho, Betty Aberlin, Gregory Kelly, Brogan Hall e Fedor Steer.
The screenplay is by Andrew McElfresh in collaboration with Kevin Smith.
