killerpartyPhoebe, Vivia and Jennifer are three inseparable friends who dream of joining the most prestigious sorority on campus, but to gain access they will have to pass some strange initiation tests; among them, organizing a party, with a male fraternity (famous for its many cruel pranks), at an abandoned mansion where, years earlier, a heinous crime was committed. The day of the party arrives, and the fraternities are ready to challenge each other to gruesome pranks, unaware that "something" is waiting for them to consummate their revenge.

Brilliant, witty, cruel little film of the regretful and golden 80s; the plot, typical of a slasher, apparently might appear unoriginal and, if desired, even ridiculous, but the director, thanks to many happy gimmicks (such as the inclusion of supernatural elements and many false leads about the identity of the killer) always keeps the viewer's interest high and the suspense too; the only flaw in the film is found, if anything, in some gaps in the screenplay; scenes that should provide clues about the culprit turn out to be "campy" and only complicate the story. Unlike other films, which start off well and end badly, in the sense that they melt away at the most beautiful, this one follows an opposite trend; it starts off quietly and with a certain goliardic vein (numerous comic scenes relating to the pranks continually enacted by the fraternities), only to become increasingly nasty as the minutes go by, but also somewhat grotesque at times; the highlight is the slaughter that takes place during the "April Fools' Day" party; lots of deaths, all original and visually well rendered, although not that much blood is seen. Very interesting soundtrack, especially the carrier motif. Fair acting performance by the cast, composed of little-known, not to say unknown names. Definitely a small film that deserves some consideration because it is craftily made and quite engaging.
