June 2018: horror movies in theaters

This month's movie schedule includes the theatrical release of the Italian noir-horror thriller Rabbia furiosa - Er Canaro in data 7 giugno. Il 21 invece saranno proiettati l'horror Truth or Dare and the Norwegian supernatural thriller-horror Thelma. The disturbing thriller-drama The Sacrifice of the Sacred Deer instead will debut in Italian theaters on June 28.

Raging Rage - Er Canaro is the third feature film directed by special effects master Sergio Stivaletti (Dèmoni 2... The Nightmare Returns, Opera, The Church) as well as director of the horror films M.D.C. - Wax Mask (1997) e The three faces of terror (2004).
The story of Raging Rage - Er Canaro takes its cue from a Roman crime story.
Plot: Fabio (Riccardo De Filippis) has just served eight months in jail for a crime he committed instead Claudio (Virgilio Olivari), a former boxer friend of his, a criminal who aspires to become the boss of the Mandrione. Claudio also runs various trades and is also involved in dogfighting, always turning to Fabio for dressings to be done to injured animals. L’amicizia tra Claudio e Fabio è molto ambigua, quasi malata. Il primo, in particolare, tende ad umiliare e a sottomettere l'amico ma un giorno quest'ultimo, stanco dei maltrattamenti subiti, deciderà di attuare la sua terribile vendetta.
The cast includes Riccardo De Filippis, Virgilio Olivari, Romina Mondello (M.D.C.-Wax Mask), Gianni Franco (M.D.C.-Wax Mask), Giovanni Lombardo Radice (Fear in the City of the Living Dead, Cannibal ferox), Rosario Petix and Romuald Klos.
Antonio Lusci, Antonio Tentori (A Cat in the Brain, Dracula 3D, Rimisherim) and Sergio Stivaletti collaborated on the screenplay for the film (produced by Apocalypsis, which distributes it in collaboration with Paradise Pictures).

On June 21, Universal Pictures brings to theaters Truth or Dare (aka Truth or Dare), l'horror targato Blumhouse e diretto da Jeff Wadlow, il regista di Nickname: Riddler (2005).
Plot: Olivia (Lucy Hale) and Lucas (Tyler Posey) reunite with their friends in Mexico. There they meet Carter, who involves them in the game "Truth or Dare." The innocent and carefree pastime, however, will turn into a terrible nightmare when the youngsters involved must confront a mysterious evil entity that punishes with death those who do not abide by the rules of the game.
The screenplay of Truth or Dare was written by Jillian Jacobs in collaboration with Michael Reisz, Christopher Roach and Jeff Wadlow. The cast includes Lucy Hale, Violett Beane, Landon Liboiron, Sophia Taylor Ali, Tyler Posey, Hayden Szeto, Nolan Gerard Funk, Aurora Perrineau, Morgan Lindholm, and Tom Choi.
The film is produced by Blumhouse Productions (Judgment Night, Split, Best Wishes for Your Death, Escape - Get Out) while Jeff Wadlow, Chris Roach, Jeanette Volturno and Couper Samuelson are the executive producers.

Thelma (Norvegia - 2018), il thriller-horror sovrannaturale in cui la protagonista è una ragazza dotata di poteri straordinari, vedrà la luce nei cinema italiani il 21 giugno con Teodora Film. Alla regia c'è Joachim Trier (Segreti di famiglia) il quale ne ha scritto anche la sceneggiatura insieme ad Eskil Vogt.
Plot: Thelma (Eili Harboe) is a girl raised in a very religious family and attending her first year of university in Oslo. Shy and reserved, the young girl falls in love with Anja (Okay Kaya), a student to whom she feels a strong sexual attraction. Tension, erotic dreams and convulsions, however, will devastate her, causing her to lose control and lead her to manifest her hitherto unknown powers. Thelma, however, will come up against a very bitter and disturbing truth that is rooted in her family's past.

L'inquietante thriller/drammatico The Sacred Deer Sacrifice (aka The Killing of a Sacred Deer) will debut in Italian theaters on June 28, 2018 with Lucky Red. Directed by Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos (The Lobster), The Sacred Deer Sacrifice (UK, Ireland, USA - 2017) stars Colin Farrell and Nicole Kidman.
Plot: Steven (Colin Farrell) è un noto chirurgo cardiotoracico e vive una vita felice insieme alla moglie Anna (Nicole Kidman) e ai loro due figli, Kim (Raffey Cassidy) e Bob (Sunny Suljic). Un giorno il medico stringe amicizia con Martin (Barry Keoghan), un sedicenne solitario che ha da poco perso il padre. Steven decide di prendersene cura e lo presenta anche alla famiglia. Poco dopo però inizieranno a verificarsi eventi sempre più inquietanti che distruggeranno l'armonia familiare e che costringeranno il chirurgo a compiere un terribile sacrificio per non correre il rischio di perdere tutto.
