To celebrate four years since the release of Joker, director Todd Phillips shared, in a post on Instagram, a photo with Joaquin Phoenix from Joker 2 (aka Joker: Folie à Deux).
Joker 2 is the Warner Bros. sequel to Joker (winner of the Golden Lion at the 2019 Venice Film Festival) and the U.S. release date has been set for October 4, 2024.

Directed by Todd Phillips, the director of the first chapter, the film marks the return of Joaquin Phoenix (The Gladiator, Quills - The Scandal Pen) as the psychopathic clown.
Instead, he is joined by U.S. singer-songwriter and actress Lady Gaga as DC Comics' anti-heroine Harley Quinn.

Based on the DC Comics character of the same name created by Bob Kane, Jerry Robinson, and Bill Finger, Joker (2019) moves away from the DC Extended Universe. In fact, the film is the origin story of the disturbed Arthur Fleck, a man who will find himself relegated to the margins of a violent society during the 1980s in Gotham City.

In the cast of Joker 2 Zazie Beetz, Brendan Gleeson (28 Days Later) and Catherine Keener (Escape - Get Out) also appear.
The screenplay, on the other hand, is by the director herself in collaboration with Scott Silver.
Filming of the film ended last April.
