HOW TO KILL A VAMPIRE - Casting continues for Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, the film adaptation of the crazy novel of the same name by Seth Grahame-Smith (also involved in the project as a screenwriter) in which the President of the United States Abraham Lincoln will secretly devote himself to the business of "vampire hunting." After successfully engaging the unknown Benjamin Walker for the leading role, the 20th Century Fox contacted Joaquin Phoenix to cast him as Henry Sturges, described as "an ageless, mythical figure who transforms Lincoln into an expert axe-thrower and vampire exterminator." For now, Phoenix Is mainly related to comedy Big Shoe, to the biopic Hoover and to The Odd Life Of Timothy Green, reasoning that a refusal to do so would be justified.
If the screenplay will faithfully follow the events narrated in the novel, in Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter Lincoln witnessed as a child the death of his mother at the hands of an evil creature. Moved by the spirit of revenge, Abraham will devote his existence in the fight against vampires and, in parallel, will have to assume the responsibilities of President of the United States while trying to abolish slavery with all his might.
Directing the film will be Timur Bekmambetov, also engaged in the project as a co-producer along with Tim Burton and Jim Lemley. If there are no unforeseen events along the way, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter will debut on the big screen on June 22, 2012.
