According to what Lionsgate has revealed, the new installment of the horror franchise Saw will no longer be titled Saw: Legacy but Jigsaw. Created by James Wan and Leigh Whannell, the saga will thus consist of as many as eight chapters, the first of which dates back to 2004. For Jigsaw a release date has already been set, namely October 27, 2017.
Filming of the new sequel took place in secrecy in the last months of 2016, to be directed by Michael and Peter Spierig (Daybreakers). The screenplay, on the other hand, is a collaboration between Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg (Piranha 3D, Sorority Row).
Confirmed actors include Laura Vandervoort and Hannah Anderson, but it is not yet clear whether Tobin Bell will also be part of the cast.
