DRUNKEN ROLE. - As every year, the latest edition of the Academy Awards brought excitement, reasons for discussion and ... cinematic news! Colleagues from MTV Indeed, they had the opportunity to interview at the event. Helena Bonham Carter, nominated in the Best Supporting Actress category (Oscar which, however, she will surprisingly win Melissa Leo) for his performance in The King's Speech, thus obtaining some information regarding Dark Shadows, a new project by Tim Burton (companion of Bonham Carter). The actress thus confirmed that she is connected with the film:
"I think I will, and that's because, well, I've never played the role of an alcoholic psychiatrist!"
First, however, let us take a step back by talking about the project itself. Dark Shadows will be the film adaptation of a comedy/sentimental horror series that aired in America in the second half of the 1960s. In this context, Helena Bonham Carter will lend her face to Julia Hoffman, a psychologist specializing in blood-related mental disorders plagued by serious drinking problems who, in one way or another, will meet Barnabas Collins, a charming vampire destined to be played by Johnny Depp. Now that we have clarified the issue a bit, let's continue with the actress's words released to MTV:
"I thought that Burton wanted to entrust me with a sexy part, and I said 'yes, I could be the sexy witch.' And he said 'no, you've already done that. You're going to play the role of an alcoholic psychiatrist!' It's undoubtedly a fun part, so we'll see. E the movie has a great cast".
As far as we know, the cast of Dark Shadows makes use for now of Johnny Depp and Eva Green, cast for the part of the witch Angelique, while negotiations are open with Jackie Earle Haley and Bella Heathcote, respectively, for the roles of Williw Loomis and Victoria Winters. However, since the filming of Dark Shadows will begin in a few weeks, soon we may (depending on the confidentiality of the project) find out the full cast of this interesting new collaboration between Burton, Depp and Bonham Carter.
