I Wonder Pictures has announced the Italian release of It Ends, the feature debut of Alexander Ullom, a young filmmaker named one of Filmmaker Magazine's "25 New Faces of Independent Film".
Following its world premiere at SXSW, It Ends turns a nighttime drive along a seemingly endless road into an existential horror nightmare.
The film will hit Italian theaters on October 28, just in time for Halloween. An Italian teaser poster has also been released.
The story follows four friends who have just graduated from college: James (Phinehas Yoon), Day (Akira Jackson), Fisher (Noah Toth), and Tyler (Mitchell Cole). During one of their last nights together before their lives take them in different directions, they head out to find something to eat and accidentally turn onto an isolated road through the woods. They soon realize that the road seems to loop endlessly: every attempt to escape fails, while something lurking beyond the roadside makes it impossible for them to stop.
Described by Ullom himself as a cross between a hangout movie and an existential nightmare, It Ends uses horror to explore uncertainty about the future and the relationship between its four protagonists. The Jeep Cherokee they travel in becomes a confined space, while an unknown threat continues to loom outside.
