The works of Howard Phillips Lovecraft have been and continue to be a source of inspiration for film. Lovecraftian work is also drawn on by actress, screenwriter and director Izzy Lee (here is the link to our interview) for his short film Innsmouth (2015), a film that pays homage to The Mask of Innsmouth of 1931 (The Shadow over Innsmouth), a novel by the immense English writer and from which the following was adapted Dagon - The mutation of evil By Stuart Gordon.
Innsmouth is a short film lasting about 11 minutes, written by Izzy lee herself (A Favour and Postpartum) together with Francesco Massaccesi and starring the stunning Tristan Risk (American Mary, Fetish Factory, Save Yourself, Mania), dazzling performer and actress considered a horror icon.
The story opens on a murder case that Detective Olmstead (Diana Porter) and a policewoman (Izzy Lee) are working on. At the victim's home, Olmstead will find a photo depicting a mysterious woman and bearing the name of the town where it was taken: Innsmouth. The detective will travel to the location to investigate.
Innsmouth is a short film that finds its strong point in the presence of Tristan Risk, who plays an ambiguous, gloomy but at the same time very sensual character. Indeed, the whole film centers on the magnetic Risk, her statuesque presence and charm, factors that culminate in a surprise effect mixed with disgust in the unexpected and therefore very welcome ending. However Innsmouth turns out to be an appreciable short film.
In addition to Tristan Risk, Diana Porter and Izzy Lee, the cast also includes Vera Schränkung, Porcelain Dalya, Sophia Cacciola, J. Zocalo and Phil Healy. Cinematography is by Bryan McKay. Valid special effects by Vera Schränkung.
