British Horror Studio has released the official trailer for In the Grip of Terror, the new anthology horror film from Amicus Productions, marking the return of the well-known British film production company to the big screen after more than four decades. The movie is the first new horror feature produced by Amicus Productions in over forty years.
Directed by Lawrie Brewster (The Unkindness of Ravens, Automata), Calum Paul and Megan Tremethick (Spoiling You), In the Grip of Terror is an anthology of macabre tales in the classic Amicus tradition, drawing inspiration from the worlds of H. P. Lovecraft, Ambrose Bierce and E. F. Benson. The movie will be released in UK theaters between October and November 2026 through British Horror Studio Picture House.
Plot: a group of travelers arrive at a mysterious hospital, where they encounter the unsettling Dr. Graves. Inside, the visitors' stories unfold one after another, revealing increasingly disturbing secrets and truths as the line between life and death becomes ever more uncertain.
The cast of In the Grip of Terror includes Golden Globe nominee Jane Merrow (The Lion in Winter, Hands of the Ripper), Laurence R. Harvey (The Human Centipede II), Lawrie Brewster, Megan Tremethick and Dorian Todd.
Lawrie Brewster also wrote the screenplay.
Lawrie Brewster, who directed the movie and also serves as president of Amicus Productions and founder of British Horror Studio, explained that the goal is to create a practical route for bringing horror movies focused on story, atmosphere and personality to theaters, beginning with In the Grip of Terror and continuing with Black Chariot, starring Laurence R. Harvey and Megan Tremethick; Spoiling You, starring Tremethick, Harvey and Stephen Kerr; and Mr Whispers, starring Tremethick, Novarro Ramon, Dorian Todd and Sam McMillan.
