Focus Features has released the official trailer for Hot Spot, a dystopian sci-fi thriller with horror elements written by Robert Bolesto and directed by Polish filmmaker Agnieszka Smoczyńska (The Lure).
Set in a near future ruled by a sentient artificial intelligence, Hot Spot follows a murder investigation that becomes entangled with digital control and a growing crisis of identity.
The movie opens in U.S. theaters on August 21, 2026, through Focus Features.
Starring Noomi Rapace as a mysterious "cyber witch," alongside Andrzej Konopka and Reika Kirishima, Hot Spot follows a private investigator assigned to solve a murder. As the investigation unfolds, he uncovers a rebel group capable of challenging the artificial intelligence that controls society. As his sense of identity begins to unravel, he is drawn into a spiral of paranoia and disorientation.
The movie is produced by Madants and is a co-production between Poland and Greece. Filming took place in Greece and wrapped in November 2024.
