Lucky Red has unveiled the Italian teaser trailer for Hokum, the latest horror movie from Damian McCarthy. Following Caveat and Oddity, the filmmaker once again delivers a chilling experience built on psychological tension and striking imagery.
Leading the witchcraft and folklore-inspired story is Emmy Award nominee Adam Scott (Krampus, The Monkey).
The movie is set to hit Italian theaters on August 5.
The story follows the fragile Ohm Bauman (Adam Scott), a writer who travels to a remote area of Ireland to scatter his parents' ashes. What is meant to be a deeply personal journey soon takes a disturbing turn as the house where he is staying appears to harbor a dark presence tied to ancient practices and a past that resurfaces in increasingly menacing ways.
Hokum premiered on March 14, 2026, at the South by Southwest Film & TV Festival, where it drew attention for its dark atmosphere and carefully crafted suspense.
The movie is rated R for violent/disturbing content and strong language.
The cast also includes Peter Coonan, David Wilmot, Florence Ordesh, Will O'Connell, Michael Patrick, Brendan Conroy, and Austin Amelio.
