Katherine Dey, un'infermiera trentenne newyorkese, ha attirato l'attenzione su di sé grazie al suo insolito hobby ovvero la sua passione per le torte cruente... le "gory cakes". Prima del suo corso in infermeria, la donna aveva studiato illustrazione e scultura al Rhode Island School of Design. Oggi può sfruttare entrambi i suoi studi, sia artistici che medici, fondendoli insieme per realizzare torte horror raffiguranti ciò che lei vede al Pronto soccorso presso cui svolge il lavoro da infermiera.
Her hyper-realistic cakes simulate horrific dishes made from babies, severed heads, human organs, viscera and even several dissected creatures. Katherine Dey (pictured below left), a mother of two little girls, started creating realistic, horror cakes about two years ago. Since then she has not stopped and has decided to delight the public with her sweet cakes.
