Jamie Clayton is Pinhead in the first official photo of Hellraiser, the 11th installment on the Cenobites that has been billed as a "faithful but evolved reimagining of the 1987 horror classic directed by Clive Barker."
The film is a new adaptation of the short horror novel Slaves of hell (The Hellbound Heart) by Clive Barker.
In the new Hellraiser, the cenobite leader played by Doug Bradley in as many as eight chapters of the saga, will this time be presented in a female version.
Produced by Spyglass Media Group and tagged Hulu, this Hellraiser features David Bruckner (The Ritual, The Night House) as director and will arrive exclusively on the Hulu platform on Oct. 7, 2022 distributed as "X-rated."
The cast includes Brandon Flynn (Thirteen), Drew Starkey (The Streets of Evil), Odessa A'Zion (Ladyworld, Grand Army), and trans actress Jamie Clayton (The Snowman, The Chain), the latter as Pinhead.
The screenplay, on the other hand, is by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski (SiREN, Super Dark Times) while Clive Barker appears on the project as a producer.
"This is not a remake. I simply didn't think you could ever make a remake of Hellraiser. It is too much of a stand-alone thing and would be something too risky for a filmmaker. How do you make it better? Instead, this is a new story in the universe of Hellraiser" - David Bruckner.
Hellraiser (1987) by Clive Barker is the first installment of the saga to which nine sequels are connected, the last three of which are unpublished in Italy. The film is based on the short horror novel Slaves of hell (The Hellbound Heart) by the same director, in which Pinhead is described as an androgynous being.
The history of all the chapters of Hellraiser is connected to a cube called the "Configuration of Lamentations" or "Lemarchand Box." It is an object with a puzzle structure that, when solved, opens the door to the dimension of pain and, more specifically, hell, where victims will be tortured forever by Pinhead and his Cenobites.
