FROM LAWYER TO DETECTIVE - After the era of remakes and the era of 3D, Hollywood seems to be about to witness what we might call "the period of narrative twists." As far as we know, in fact, several films based on famous novels are planned that will offer "what ifs," "what would have happened if." We cite for example:

  • Snow White And The Huntsman, version of Snow White And The Seven Dwarfs in which the hunter hired by the queen to kill Snow White will choose to run away with the princess and train her in hunting and self-defense
  • Snow White And The Seven, another version of Snow White in which the seven dwarfs will be monks skilled in martial arts
  • Pride And Prejudice And Zombies, a film based on the novel-parody Pride And Prejudice And Zombies. by Seth Grahame-Smith which retells the story of Pride And Prejudice stuffing it with the living dead
  • Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, another transposition of a novel-parody by Grahame-Smith ready to propose the U.S. president Abraham Lincoln In the unprecedented guise of a vampire hunter
  • A still unnamed project in which the Beatles Are shown as zombies

Joining the titles listed in the crazy list and others not mentioned is Harker, a curious project written by Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy intended for the direction of Jaume Collet-Serra, director of Orphan, Unknown and The Wax Mask. The film will draw heavily from the Dracula by Bram Stoker and will revolve attono to the character of Jonathan Harker, on this occasion presented as a Scotland Yard detective (in the original version he is a lawyer) intent on hunting down the infamous Count Dracula (but-wasn't van Helsing already there?). Produced by the Warner Bros., Harker has been described as an investigation- and action-oriented title that, if successful, will spawn a new franchise. Will Harker be able to win over viewers by emulating Sherlock Holmes by Guy Ritchie?
