Through his Facebook page, John Carpenter revealed that there will be a new Halloween. The renowned American director and screenwriter is involved in the project as executive producer alongside Malek Akkad of Trancas International Films and Jason Blum of Blumhouse Productions. It is also likely that John Carpenter will consider composing the soundtrack for the film, which is set for release on October 19, 2018.
The direction of Halloween has been entrusted to David Gordon Green (Stronger, Pineapple Express), while the screenplay will be written by Danny McBride (Alien: Covenant) in collaboration with the director. According to the latter, Halloween It will not be a remake. It will focus heavily on the first two films in the saga and continue the story of Michael Myers.
Let us remember that John Carpenter directed in 1978 Halloween – The Night of the Witches, the first chapter of the famous horror franchise, which was followed by seven sequels (three of which were original and four apocryphal).
In 2007, Rob Zombie filmed Halloween - The Beginning (reboot of Halloween - The Night of the Witches), followed by Halloween II (2009).
