RLJE Films has released the official trailer for Gwen (UK - 2018), il folk horror dalle cupe atmosfere che ricorda The VVitch (2015) by Robert Eggers and Hagazussa (2017) by Lukas Feigelfeld.
Written and directed by William McGregor (here in his first feature film), Gwen will be released in US theaters on August 16, coinciding with its release on video on demand.
As in the aforementioned films, in Gwen The protagonist is a young and unhappy girl who will hit rock bottom when she has to deal with the forces of evil in her life.
Trama: Gwen (Eleanor Worthington-Cox) è una ragazza stressata e abbattuta dalle pesanti responsabilità che gravano sulle sue spalle. Poiché il padre è assente, la giovane fa affidamento sulle proprie forze per badare alla madre malata e per sopportare l'astio e le pressioni degli abitanti del posto che vogliono obbligarla a vendere la fattoria. Gwen cercherà di trascinare la sua famiglia fuori dall'oscurità che la sta opprimendo ma una presenza malevola inizierà a manifestarsi nella sua casa gettandola nella disperazione e nel terrore.
