The teaser trailer for Gretel & Hansel, the new horror retelling of the classic German fairy tale "Hansel and Gretel" by the Brothers Grimm.
Directed by Oz Perkins (February: The Innocence of Evil), Gretel & Hansel is played by Sophia Lillis (IT, IT: Chapter Two). The young actress plays Gretel while Sammy Leakey is her brother Hansel.
The film will arrive in U.S. theaters on January 31, 2020.
Plot: Desperate for food, Gretel reaches the woods with her little brother Hansel (Sammy Leakey). During their journey the two children will meet a very kind hunter (Charles Babalola) and then find comfort at the cozy home of an elderly woman (Alice Krige) apparently very loving toward them.
The cast of Gretel & Hansel also includes Alice Krige, Jessica De Gouw (Underground, Arrow), Charles Babalola (Black Mirror) and Ian Kenny.
The screenplay is by Rob Hayes while Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Fred Berger are the film's producers.
Over the years, the fairy tale "Hansel and Gretel" has had several film adaptations. The most recent ones include. Hansel & Gretel - Witch Hunters (2013) by Tommy Wirkola and Hansel and Gretel and the Witch of the Black Forest (2013) by Duane Journey.
