Chris Columbus revealed that he has completed the screenplay of Gremlins 3, the new sequel to the saga. The third installment of the franchise will be produced by Warner Bros.
Il an interview, Chris Columbus says he is satisfied with the script and that the new chapter on the little monsters will be dark and have a complex story. He also added that special effects will be kept to a minimum and that puppets will be used again.
The name of Chris Columbus, screenwriter of Gremlins and de The Goonies, also appears in the production of the film along with that of Steven Spielberg (former producer of the first chapter).
Gremlins (1984), the first chapter in the saga, is directed by Joe Dante. The film stars Zach Galligan (recently seen in The Chair), here as
Billy Peltzer, the young man who is given a mogwai named Gizmo, a cuddly little monster that cannot be exposed to light, cannot be bathed, and must not be fed after midnight.
1990, again directed by Joe Dante, is the year of Gremlins 2 - The New Lineage, a sequel that was not as successful as the first one (which grossed $150 million).
