In the chronological order of all the films devoted to the Crystal Lake killer, this is the concluding (even considering Freddy vs. Jason, although it was filmed more recently).
In 2008, a scientific-military organization captured Jason (Kane Hodder) and studies him to understand the causes of his immortality.
However, the killer manages to free himself and carries out a massacre but is eventually hibernated by a researcher (Lexa Doig) which in turn remains hibernated along with him.
After nearly 500 years, a group of students find the hibernation chamber and transport the two guests to their spaceship to "wake them up" (Earth is now uninhabitable and humanity has moved to other planets).
Jason, of course, will prove that even with half a millennium more on his back he is still a tough cookie, and here he will transform himself, thanks to a tissue regenerating machine, into a much more powerful monster (named Uber-Jason) than it was originally.
And blood will flow copiously, as always.
Let's assume that Jason X either likes or dislikes it; detractors judge it to be an utterly avoidable and somewhat ridiculous chapter; admirers, while acknowledging its "trashy" nature, appreciate it for its humor and ability to make self-deprecating points about the "cornerstones" of the series.
For fans of the series, this film will turn out to be a nice hybrid of horror and science fiction (moreover, it is the chapter in which Jason kills the most people, as many as 18), while detractors can largely look elsewhere.
