Firebase (2017)

According to Variety, Neill Blomkamp's Oats Studios has canceled the horror project. Firebase for which a crowdfunding campaign had been launched (link to news story) in April and which turned out to be a failure. The lack of funds to be allocated in the implementation of Firebase (the film extension of the short film of the same name directed by Neill Blomkamp himself in 2017), brought the director of District 9 and Elysium to shelve (at least for the time being) his project.
Oats Studios will provide reimbursement to campaign supporters.

Neill Blomkamp would have liked to bring hell back to the Vietnam War again by introducing a diabolical enemy namely a hellish creature capable of summoning the dead.

Set in the war conflict, the story of the sci-fi horror short Firebase (2017) features an American soldier trapped in a dense web of madness and death.
As war rages in the rainforests, soldiers face an unseen enemy. Lurking in the woods, the unclean creature will exterminate the men one by one.

The cast of the 2017 short film includes Steve Boyle (in the title role), Nicole Goliath, Robert Hobbs, Chris William Martin, Tyler Johnston, Pat Mastroianni, Than Thao Nguyen, and Nic Rhind.
