After the first erotic film and the success that ensued, while their colleagues were busy making sexploitation, Herschell Gordon Lewis and David Friedman turned to something innovative and that had never before been represented in cinema. The two thus decided to make a film about death, focusing on violent and heinous scenes, dismembered bodies dripping with blood.
