Written and directed by Turkish director Hasan Karacadag, Magi is a horror genre film that will be presented at the Berlin Film Market. Author in the past of other genre titles belonging to the strand of demonic possession such as Semum and the saga D@bbe started in 2006, Hasan Karacadag offers a new film in the wake of previous works in which he still adds a touch of blasphemy. Despite the overused devilish theme, from the teaser trailer available at the bottom of the article, it is visible how this new work of his stands out from the films lacking depth and a hint of originality in recent years.
The story of Magi sees a young American woman move to Istanbul to take up her job as an English teacher in schools. Her journalist sister will learn of something dark that has crept into her life. The two sisters will realize too late that they are victims of a curse.
The cast of Magi consists of such well-known actors as Michael Madsen and Stephen Baldwin. They are joined by Brianne Davis, Lucie Pohl, Dragan Micanovic, Kenan Ece and Emine Meyrem.
Hasan Karacadag himself was in charge of the film's production together with Timur Savci, while Gabriel Campoy handled the cinematography.
