Earlier today, Total Film released the new official image of Evil Dead Rise, the fifth installment of the horror saga The House (Evil Dead).
Written and directed by Lee Cronin (The Hole in The Ground) for Warner Bros./New Line, Evil Dead Rise will arrive in U.S. theaters on April 21, 2023.
The director explained that, in this new chapter "There are many callbacks and connections to the past. Part of the goal of this film is to create something that can further expand the Evil Dead universe“.
Sam Raimi, the creator of the franchise The House, appears in the project as a producer, along with longtime partner Robert Tapert and his friend Bruce Campbell, the actor who played Ash Williams in the saga Evil Dead and who will not be in the cast of this new chapter.
In this regard, Lee Cronin explained to the magazine, "There is no Ash in this story and there is no cabin in the woods, the two iconic elements of Evil Dead. In my film, however, there is the book and lots of Evil Deadite“.
Plot of Evil Dead Rise: Beth visits her older sister Ellie, who is raising three children alone in a small apartment in Los Angeles. The affectionate atmosphere generated by the sisterly reunion is interrupted by the discovery of a mysterious book in the very building where Ellie lives. It is the Necronomicon, a dangerous text containing rituals for summoning demons and which will force Beth to fight a battle for survival.
The cast includes Alyssa Sutherland, Lily Sullivan, Gabrielle Echols, Morgan Davies, Mia Challis and Nell Fisher.
