Paranormal Stories: episodic horror at the cinema

paranormal-storiesStarting today, it can be found in Italian theaters Paranormal Stories, a collective horror film consisting of five episodes and produced by "Gabriele Albanesi Productions."
The five ghost stories directed by as many directors on the Italian independent circuit are joined by the frame episode edited by Gabriele Albanesi (Il bosco fuori). Presented in the official press release as a "modern Creepshow" immersed in ghost stories, and again as "a dark and disturbing film." Paranormal Stories is certainly an interesting project whose fascination lies not only in its episodic structure but also in the theme it deals with. Spirits, mediums and souls of the dead suspended between the world of the dead and the world of the living are just some of the themes addressed by the five segments we now take a closer look at.

The episodes in this project involve the story of a writer who bequeaths his diabolical secrets to his son; a boy who chats with the spirit of his friend who committed suicide a few hours earlier; a medium who will have to deal with the spirits she has conjured up during her conning sessions; a mute child who is cast aside by his peers; three girls who take refuge in a motel following an accident...

The titles of the episodes that make up Paranormal Stories Are as follows:

  • November 17 by Thomas Agnes
  • Offline by Andrea Gagliardi
  • The Medium by Roberto Palma
  • Fairy Tale of a Monster By Stephen Prolli
  • Screams on the Hill by Omar Protani and Marco Farina

The cast consists of Daniele De Angelis, Primo Reggiani, Giulia Moscatelli, Jonathan Coppola, Genny Santin Nalin, Alessandro D'Ambrosi, Guja Quaranta, Laura Gigante, Chiara Brunamonti, Maurizio Tesei, Carola Clavarino, Santa De Santis, Claudia Fratarcangeli and Anna Maria Teresa Ricci.
