Dissatisfied with the results only a week into filming, the producers of the sequel/reboot Don't open that door, which includes Fede Alvarez (The House - remake), have replaced directors Andy and Ryan Tohill with David Blue Garcia, author of the thriller Tejano (2018).
This was reported by Deadline.
Like the saga Halloween produced by Blumhouse, also that of Don't Open That Door Will have a new life. The film about the iconic Leatherface will in fact be a sequel/reboot connected exclusively to Don't open that door (1974) by Tobe Hooper, with no connection to the sequels, prequels and remakes of the franchise.
The script for this new installment is by Chris Thomas Devlin while the cast features Elsie Fisher (Bad Behavior), Jacob Latimore (Vanishing on 7th Street), Moe Dunford (The Lodgers - Don't Break the Rules) and Sarah Yarkin (Still Wish You Were Dead).
Recall that between 1986 and 1994, three less successful sequels were made to Don't open that door (1974).
In 2003 Marcus Nispel directed the remake while 3 years later Jonathan Liebesman handled the prequel Don't Open That Door - The Beginning.
In 2013 John Luessenhop signs the direction of. Don't Open That Door 3D, a direct sequel to the 1974 cult film. Finally, in 2017 Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury directed. Leatherface, the prequel to the first chapter.
