After the teaser trailer came the full trailer of Demonic (Canada - 2021), the demonic horror film written and directed by Neill Blomkamp, the director of District 9 and Elysium.
Produced by STABILITi Studios and AGC Studios, the film will debut in US theaters and on streaming platforms on August 20, 2021 with IFC Midnight.
In Italy, however, it will be distributed by Koch Media.
The story of Demonic sheds light on the conflicting relationship between mother and daughter, at the root of which seems to be the clash of supernatural forces.
Plot: A girl agrees to participate in an experiment that could put her in touch with her comatose mother, whom she has not seen for some time and with whom she has always had a complicated relationship. Through a simulation, the two women can interact through brain activity, but the situation will prove especially complicated when the difference between reality and fiction is harder to distinguish to make way for a possible and devastating demonic possession.
The cast includes Carly Pope (Hard Rush), Nathalie Boltt (District 9), Chris William Martin (Aliens vs. Predator 2), Michael Rogers (Elysium) and Andrea Agur (Chained).
Miguel Palos Jr, Alastair Burlingham, Charlie Dombek, Viktor Muller and Steven St. Arnaud are the executive producers of Demonic.
Neill Blomkamp recently stated that he is working on the screenplay of District 10, the sequel to District 9, along with Sharlto Copley and Terri Tatchell.
