Online the official Italian trailer for Demeter: The Awakening of Dracula (aka The Last Voyage of the Demeter), the horror film about Dracula directed by AndrĂ© Ă˜vredal (Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, Autopsy) and rated Rated R for "violence and gore."
Written by Bragi Schut (Escape Room), the film stars Spanish actor Javier Botet (REC, The Mother, Don't Knock on That Door), here as the famous vampire, and will debut in Italian theaters on August 10 distributed by 01 Distribution.
The film is inspired by Dracula (1897), Bram Stoker's Gothic novel, and takes its cue exclusively from the chapter Captain's Log Of the literary work.
The story sheds light on the voyage and massacre of the crew aboard the Demeter, the Russian ship intended to transport private cargo and which carried the coffin of the famous vampire from Transylvania to London. Having finally arrived near Whitby Harbour, the transport was now reduced to a wreck.
The film will detail the strange events that happened to the crew as they try to survive the ocean voyage, tormented and terrorized each night by a terrifying presence.
The cast also includes Liam Cunningham (Game of Thrones), Aisling Franciosi (The Nightingale), Corey Hawkins (The Walking Dead), David Dastmalchian, Jon Jon Briones, Stefan Kapicic, and Nikolai Nikolaeff.
The film is produced by DreamWorks Pictures in collaboration with Universal.
