After three shorts belonging to a completely different genre, Jason Lei Howden writes directs Deathgasm, a feature-length New Zealand horror film with Eighties references that, as the teaser trailer suggests, looks thick with inviting splatter and gore scenes.
Also Deathgasm offers a perfect horror-metal combination, in fact the protagonists of the story are the metalheads Brodie and Zakk, two outcast teenagers united by their passion for heavy metal music. The two start a band together but their lives change when they come into possession of a strange musical score that can give great power to anyone who plays it. The music, however, awakens "Aeloth The Blind One," an ancient evil entity. The two friends, together with their group, will try to stop Evil from destroying humanity.
The cast includes Milo Cawthorne, James Blake, Kimberley Crossman, Daniel Cresswell, Sam Berkley, Stephen Ure, Colin Moy and Delaney Tabron. Special effects are by Storm McCracken and Tim Wells.
Deathgasm is produced by Darky Sky and Ant Timpson's Timpson Films (The ABCs of Death, Housebound).
Deathgasm is currently in post-production and will have its world premiere in March at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas.
