We announce below the latest Official Selections, for the category BEST FEATURE FILM, of the DarkVeins Horror Fest 2018. Among the films in competition in this second edition of the Festival, three horror features were chosen:
- Book of Monsters (UK - 2018) by Stewart Sparke;
- Main Street Meat (USA - 2017) di Jeff Lyon;
- Sant Martà (Spagna - 2017) di David Ruiz e Albert València.

Book of Monsters è un monster movie che prende spunto dalla filmografia anni '80 e '90, ispirandosi, in particolare, a film come "Scream", "Gremlins" e "Buffy – L’ammazzavampiri".
Produced by Dark Rift Films, Book of Monsters is directed by Stewart Sparke (The Creature Below) on a script by Paul Butler.
Plot: Sophie's (Lyndsey Craine) 18th birthday party turns red when six terrifying monsters burst into the party intent on devouring party guests and killing anyone who attempts to leave the place that has now become a slaughterhouse. As her classmates are torn apart and mauled, Sophie and the girls try to send the intruders back to hell and thus end the carnage.

Written and directed by Jeff Lyon, Main Street Meat Is a black comedy that veers into old school slasher.
Plot: tre fratelli hanno difficoltà a mandare avanti la macelleria di famiglia. Un giorno, uno di loro incappa accidentalmente nel segreto del successo e, insieme ai suoi due fratelli, è obbligato a tenere il passo con la crescente richiesta dei clienti. Anche l'aiuto di una ragazza di passaggio gioverà al locale.

Written and directed by the duo consisting of Albert València and David Ruiz, Sant Martà is a Spanish horror thriller in which you can hear echoes of the Calvaire By Fabrice Du Welz.
Plot: two friends are headed to a rock festival in a van. On the way they give a ride to two girls whose destination is the same event but, due to a breakdown of the vehicle, they are forced to stop in Sant MartÃ, a nearby shantytown.
In the cast: Olga Bernardo, Guillem Fernà ndez-Valls, Anna Ferran, Paco Moreno, José GarcÃa Ruiz, and Raül Tortosa.
