We announce, below, the Official Selections for the category. BEST EVIL CHARACTER of DarkVeins Horror Fest 2018. Among the films in competition in this second edition of the Festival, three short horror films were chosen: Kiss The Devil In The Dark, Into The Mud and Termitator. These are also joined by the feature film Naked Night.
Below are the four finalist films competing for the award BEST EVIL CHARACTER:
The short fantasy-horror film Kiss the Devil in the Dark (USA - 2016) is directed by Jonathan Martin (Creatures of Whitechapel, An Evening With My Comatose Mother) and Rebecca Martin. This short film of about 30 minutes in length boasts in its cast the presence of renowned actor Doug Jones (The Faun's Labyrinth, Hellboy, The Shape of Water).
Plot: the powerful sorcerer Marcus (Dameon Clarke) desperately tries to bring back the woman he so loved. The man will end up making a pact with the demon Dagon in order to get her back but the diabolical creature will not settle for a simple exchange of souls. Marcus will accept the demon's terms and, shrouded in darkness, will know the true meaning of the betrayal.
In the cast: Dameon Clarke, Doug Jones, Amrita Acharia (Dead Snow 2, Game of Thrones), Gary Reimer, Rick Macy, Johnny Call, Sonya Macari, Brian Higgins, Jake Stormoen and Amy Lia.
The screenplay is by Rebecca Martin and Blake Cassleman.

Into The Mud (Spagna - 2016) è un cortometraggio fanta-horror scritto e diretto da Pablo Pastor, qui al suo esordio registico.
This 10-minute short film features a girl who wakes up naked in the middle of a forest. After an initial state of confusion, the young woman realizes that she is injured but, even worse, that she is the prey of a man who does not seem willing to let her go. The girl attempts to escape but is hunted down by her captor.

Produced and directed by the trio consisting of Camille Monette, Roxane De Koninck and Keenan Poloncsak, Termitator (Canada - 2017) is a short horror film of about 15 minutes in which there is no shortage of splatter and melting made with practical effects.
Plot: four boys reach a cabin in the woods to spend a fun-filled weekend. On the premises, however, lurks the mutant Termitator, a dangerous and violent man-thermite.
The cast includes Keenan Poloncsak, Luce Cossette, Nadim Mahi-Bahi, Sarah Piché-Senécal, and Stéphane Dumais.
The screenplay is by Camille Monette.

Naked Night (Italia - 2018) è un lungometraggio horror diretto da Lorenzo Lepori (Catacomba) su una sceneggiatura a firma del celebre Antonio Tentori.
Naked Night talks about a night of excess experienced by Paolo (Pascal Persiano) and Andrea (Henrj Batolini), two friends who meet after a long time. Their night of sex and drugs will turn into a supernatural nightmare when, inevitably, they are forced to reach the campaign of an acquaintance to dispose of a dead body. The place, however, is inhabited by malevolent creatures who have no intention of making them leave.
