According to The Wrap, the new film by Kiah Roache-Turner (Wyrmwood, DaemonRunner) will be. Dark West, a vampire movie in the wake of the vampire movie Near the Dark, (1987), the unforgettable horror western directed by Kathryn Bigelow and starring Adrian Pasdar, Lance Henriksen, and Bill Paxton.
The screenplay of Dark West is edited by Kiah Roache-Turner himself in collaboration with Richard Kadrey.
Produced by Winterlight Pictures, Dark West is a vampire movie about revenge. The main characters in the story are two thieves who, after stealing a car, along Texas highways will run into a pair of vampires in the middle of the night.
The story of Dark West draws on that of the classic horror films of the 1980s, in particular, the cult the vampire movie Near the Dark (Near Dark) and The Hitcher - The Long Road of Fear (1986). The latter was directed by Robert Harmon and starred Rutger Hauer.
