A few days ago, acclaimed Italian filmmaker Dario Argento (Deep Red, Suspiria, Inferno) unveiled his new thriller trilogy at the Fantastic Pavilion during the Cannes Marché du Film, where he also received the "Keys to the Pavilion" award, a prestigious honor presented by the genre section as a tribute to his contribution to horror and thriller cinema.

The Maestro of giallo cinema, who attended the festival for the Cannes Classics screening of Giuseppe Patroni Griffi's 1968 drama Metti, una sera a cena, which he co-wrote, presented the three new projects he is involved in as a screenwriter alongside director Gabriele Altobelli and producer Giovanni Di Gianfrancesco of the Rome-based company Mattia's Film.

Below is the trilogy Dario Argento is involved with. Directed by Gabriele Altobelli:

  • Flesh of My Flesh (Carne della mia carne):
Three mothers. A missing teenage girl. An evil lurking beneath everyday life.
The film is described as "a realistic and unsparing portrait of evil in its most unsettling form: ordinary, unsuspected, the evil next door", as well as "a deliberate departure from Argento's signature atmospheric horror", marking "a new phase in the maestro's storytelling".
The cast includes Ilenia Pastorelli, Matilde Gioli, Alessio Boni, Angela Molina, and Manuela Arcuri.
  • The Girl with Crystal Eyes (La bambina dagli occhi di cristallo):
The story follows the encounter between a charming businessman and a mysterious woman whose passion draws him into a spiral of tragic murders.
Production is expected to begin in fall 2026, with Dario Argento attached to the project in an artistic supervision role.
  • The Black Velvet Mask (La maschera di velluto nero):
The third film, currently slated to begin production in 2027, explores the minds of three young women from different social backgrounds and origins who are haunted by the same nightmare: a man wearing a black velvet mask attacks them and throws them from a balcony. The victims manage to unmask him, but upon waking, they can no longer remember his face.

Meanwhile, the poster for the first film, Flesh of My Flesh, starring Ilenia Pastorelli, has also surfaced online:
