The first trailer for Crimson Peak, the gothic ghost story directed by Guillermo Del Toro (Mimic, The Devil's Thorn, Hellboy, The Faun's Labyrinth, The Strain) and written by the director himself along with Matthew Robbins (Mimic) for a co-production involving Legendary and Universal Pictures.
England, 19th century. Edith Cushing (Mia Wasikowska) lives in a gloomy Victorian home isolated among the rural northern countryside. The woman, an aspiring writer, is torn between her love for her childhood friend and a mysterious stranger. A sudden family tragedy will change the life of the girl who will find herself living an endless nightmare fueled by terrifying memories and in which those responsible for her anguish seem to be the woman's own husband and the dark abode.
The cast includes such well-known actors as Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain, Tom Hiddleston, Charlie Hunnam, and Jim Beaver. Production of the film was handled by Del Toro himself along with Thomas Tull, Jon Jashni and Callum Greene.
The date for U.S. distribution is set for October 16, 2015.
