Lucky Red presents two new official clips from Crimes of The Future (2022), the sci-fi body horror written and directed by the celebrated David Cronenberg (Rabid, Brood, Scanners, The Fly) returning to the big screen after an eight-year absence.
The film will arrive in Italian theaters today, August 24, with Lucky Red.
Following The killer's promise, A History of Violence and A Dangerous Method, David Cronenberg once again chooses Viggo Mortensen as the lead. He is joined by Léa Seydoux (Spectre, No time to die) and Kristen Stewart (Twilight, Underwater).
Crimes of the future takes its title from his earlier 1970 film without being a remake of it and marks the director's return to body horror, a subgenre of horror of which he is considered the pioneer and into which his cult films such as The demon under the skin, Rabid - Bloodlust, Brood - The evil brood, Videodrome, The Brood and The fly.
Official synopsis: in an unspecified future, the disastrous effects of pollution and climate change have altered the bodies of human beings, now capable of implementing continuous mutations. Former surgeon Caprice (Léa Seydoux) harnesses her partner Saul Tenser's (Viggo Mortensen) ability to develop new organs to create artistic performances of surgical removal, in which the pair publicly display the internal metamorphosis of humans. These avant-garde performances attract the attention of Timlin (Kristen Stewart), an investigator for the National Organ Registry, but also of a suspected subversive group whose goal is to take humanity to the next evolutionary stage.
Completing the cast are Scott Speedman (Underworld), Don McKellar, Welket Bungué, Tanaya Beatty, Lihi Kornowski, Yorgos Karamichos, and Yorgos Pirpassopoulos.
Crimes of the Future had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.
