Color Out of Space is the film adaptation of the short story of the same name "The Color Came from Space" by H.P. Lovecraft, a literary work that has inspired several films including Death from the crystal eye (1965) by Daniel Heller, the episode "The Lonely Death of Jordy Verrill" in Creepshow (1982), The cursed farm (1987) by David Keith and Virus: Extreme Contamination (2015) by Domiziano Cristopharo.
Richard Stanley's film stars Nicolas Cage and Joely Richardson, here as Mr. and Mrs. Gardner, a couple who retire to the countryside where, shortly thereafter, a meteorite will crash causing a terrifying change in the vicinity of the crater. The two adults' tranquility will be disintegrated by a hallucinatory nightmare unleashed by an extraterrestrial organism that will contaminate the farmhouse, infecting everything.
In the cast: Nicolas Cage (Ghost Rider, Signs from the Future, Mandy), Joely Richardson (Point of No Return, Contagious - Deadly Epidemic), Madeleine Arthur (Big Eyes), Tommy Chong, Elliot Knight (Titans), Brendan Meyer, Julian Hilliard (The Haunting of Hill House) and Q'Orianka Kilcher (The Alienist).
In September Color Out of Space will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) and, later, will also be screened at the Fantastic Fest Austin's.
