Collar (Canada - 2014) is the title of the extreme film written and directed by Ryan Nicholson, an effects artist (Hemogoblin, Existenz, Final Destination, ESP² - Paranormal Phenomena...), Canadian producer and director (Human meal, Gutterballs, Dead Nude Girls...). The U.S. release in the DVD format took place a few days ago, on November 18.
The protagonist of the story is Massive (Nick Principe), a ruthless homeless man who, with ease, is guilty of horrendous crimes such as murder and rape. One of his victims, a prostitute who manages to escape him, informs her pimp about what happened. The man is determined to find the murderer but a series of circumstances lead the police to get on the trail of Massive who will have no problem turning even policemen into cannon fodder.
Collar is described as a brutal film that enjoys a good script. It follows that the film is not just a depiction of violence and torture precisely because of a simple but well-curated story played by well-characterized characters.
Like Ryan Nicholson's other film work, the Collar Is produced by Plotdigger Films.
The cast includes Nick Principe (Seed 2, Mayson County), Aidan Dee, Mihola Terzic, Momona Komagata, Ronald Thompson, Mackenzie Murdock, and Frederic Levasseur.
